Why Is Marketing Important To A Business?

Why is marketing important to a business

Today I’m going answer a simple question: Why is marketing important to a business?

Sometimes people come up to me and ask me to build a sales funnel from scratch. They feel that if I build them a sales funnel, all their problems will be solved and they will have a magical business that works on autopilot and makes them rich immediately.

My response to those type of requests is that marketing is only the fuel whereas the engine is your business.

What I do is this, I help people to have the best and the most amazing fuel in the world. But if you do not have a working engine, it’s not going to help you at all.

Fuel without an engine is worthless and useless. Well, you can burn it but it’s not going to do anything worthwhile for your business :)

The Engine Of Your Business

There is a huge difference between business and marketing. What I mean is, you need to have a great offer. Otherwise all the marketing in the world is not going to help you.

You need to have an awesome business model.

Otherwise all the marketing in the world is not going to do you any good. You need to make sure that you are fulfilling a need that needs to be served at the marketplace. Otherwise all the marketing in the world is not going to help you at all.

So my favourite clients are people who have successful businesses, who have an engine that has momentum, an engine that is working. We know that the engine is working; we know that the guy is selling stuff in the industry. So all I have to do is bring my amazing mega super fuel deluxe to that business and I can easily double the business or triple the business in no time.

However, if you do not have an engine at all, you have got to build that engine. You have got to figure out how that engine is going to work. You have got to work to build it and nobody is going to do it for you. That is something that only you can do.

And that is something that you must do if you want to build a successful business.

How to Build A Solid Engine

I mean you can model on other engines but you have got to have a working proven business model. You need to fulfil the need. You need to make sure that there are customers out there who want to buy your stuff.

You need to build up some momentum by yourself.

Otherwise all the marketing in the world won’t help you.

Now, you can of course, use direct marketing to help you build that engine faster. But still all the direct marketing in the world won’t do you any good if your business model is flawed or if there is no need for it in the marketplace.

Often, people think that they have this amazing business idea but in reality it’s just crap because no one cares about it.

There is no need for it in the marketplace.

These type of entrepreneurs usually have a huge ego and they fall in love with their business idea. Then, they approach me or someone else, and they say, “I’ve got this perfect idea and all I need is some marketing or some help” and “If we make millions, we’ll split it 50-50.”

I say, that’s just crap.

The world doesn’t care how amazing your business idea is. What matters is if you can create something that the world cares about or not. If you can, then we can talk and create something wonderful.

But before you have that core engine, that proof that you will be able to sell your stuff, marketing is not going to help you one bit. It will be equivalent to pouring fuel on a cold surface.

Finally, Add Marketing Fuel

Always understand, that it takes time to build an engine, to research the market, to define your customer avatar and to get a few sales in order to prove that you can sell stuff there. You can model on other businesses, see what they do, learn from it and create a business plan.

Then we will start to have an engine in place. Then if myself or someone like me pours the best fuel in the world into your working engine, you will have gained the potential to take off.

You must never confuse the fuel with the engine. They do work together and go hand in hand but you always need one to get the other to work. That is how business and marketing work together. That is the difference between the two that so many people are unaware of.

I hope this clarified a lot of things for my readers.
